more yard fun

who needs toys when you have BUGS! let it hop, wiggle, flutter or crawl---yard critters are fun!
by nature, i think laurel is gonna be a girly-girl. but she's gonna have a hard time with poppa and vienna as company. and seriously, i'm not big on the whole-princessy appeal--- wont forbid, but def not encourage either.
i want them to hit a mean baseball, climb trees, rock the guitar --- all the things a princess doesnt do. give me a girl scout any day (-:

soccer tots

the girls started soccer class for the spring season. it's really alot of running around, kicking balls, but every class, they're taught at least one new skill.
for instance, they try to dribble the ball btwn their feet, or kick the ball fm underneath some one's foot, or try to right a knocked over cone w/just their foot--- soccer takes alot of balancing!

the class lasts for an 1hr and the girls are usually done (and whining no soccer) by 45 mins in, but every saturday, they're ready for more.

vienna sitting on a red square instead of the red line like everyone else. the girl likes to do her own thing.

class ends w/a soccer stamp ...go girl power!

We heart free parks

Goregous weather means, we're out the door, either romping in the backyard or at frying pan park, a real working farm open to the public. they also hold local horse competitions, so the horses were out in droves today.

poor laurel has a bit of a stomach bug. she had a fever yesterday, but today her temp was back to normal. she's not eating much, but is aleast gettin fluids and in good spirits, if alittle lack-luster.

at the park, she went thru 2 pair of pants. on her last pair, we put a diaper on her. but even with candy bribes, she was insistent, 'no pdaiper'---she knows she's no baby! luckily she (and the pants) survived the rest of the outing.

Arts and Culture

we took the girls to their first concert at jamin java. we're not a musically trained household, neither eric or i play an instrument (tho gramma D did try piano lessons unsucessfully w/eric and royce), but music & kids are such a natural combo.
there's an excellent selection of children musicians, beyond twinkle twinkle little star; that even parents can enjoy. a four-thumbs-up experience.

one of our current fav chidren author is eric carl. the girls love his books, esp laurel. after the first few reads, she can 'read' the book herself. this video doesnt quite capture it, but the girl has an excellent (visual) memory.

and what's art w/out the foundation of learning:

Bring the Snow In

the girls had a lot of fun 'painting snow' today. push some holes in empty juice bottles, fill up w/water mixed with food coloring and it's an art project. martha would be proud.
