Baby Faces

It's funny how babies hate having their faces touched (wipe their noses, forgetaboutit).

This was my THIRD attempt at smearing Neosporin on Vienna's cheek for her scratch (bad, bad cat) before I asked Eric to video tape her antics. So she's calmer (ha!).

THe world is her CRAWL-DOM

Vienna started crawling this week (at about 81/2 months). She pushes off on both knees and does an inch worm-kinda crawl. But she's def mobile and enjoys conquering all the new territory.

So we baby proofed last night--bye bye coffee table and hello gates. I'll post a video of her travels later on today.

As for Laurel, she's SO close. She's doing what Vienna did before, moving backwards instead of forward by pushing on her hands and forearms. And she's up on all fours rocking, so any day now.

Things are gonna get interesting around here. We better warn the cat (-:

Random musing...

I was just thinking the other day, how Eric and I LOVE our 15-20 commute (since now I'm in Herndon vs Bethesda and he's in Mclean). And even then our schedule is TIGHT, tight, tight.

Here's a sample of our nightly routine:

- 5PM leave work

- 5:15 to 5:30 home to relieve nanny

- 5:30 to 6 when its nice out, take the kids out for a
walk and some fresh air

- 6 to 6:30 prepare quick 20-min meal or leftovers & eat
dinner

- 6:30 to 7 play with kids and do some 'rotation
exercises' per the PT to help w/their motor skills

- 7 to 7:30 their bath, book and last bottle

- 7:30 to 8 kids' bedtime

- 8 to 10:30 QT w/Big ED, tv, computer,
mini 20 min exercise program

- 10:30-11PM shower, read one chapter and
lights out

Whew, jam packed schedule. How do parents fit it all in with an 1hour to 1 1/2 hr commute? Eat dinner at 9PM and skip the play time?

Quality of life must plummet with the sheer exhaustion of the grind. Personally, I'm not a commuter gal and am grateful we live where we do.

(Yes, I have a love-hate relationship with our home. Love the location, loads of land for the kids to explore, excellent school district and quiet, safe neighborhood; just not thrilled with the layout of the house or V Road. But sorry, I digress since that could be a whole other blog. )

And I cant imagine when the kids are older and there's homework & lessons. When does it slow down, when they're in high school?(!)

The Post did a couple of studies on today's working parents:

So it appears, thru creative juggling, parents are spending more time with their children than previous generations. Funny, how it doesnt feel that way...

Break Through: They can feed themselves!

Vienna working her 'pinchers' with skill.

Look at the concentration.

All gone!

Note: They are practicing on gerber melts that instantly dissolve in their mouths. Yummy in their tummy and not a choking hazard.

we're going to bermuda!

may has gorgeous weather and thus, it's a popular month for weddings; and we've been invited to two.

the first wedding for emily & richard is in bermuda!

yes, we're goin to bermuda and staying at the all-inclusive, grotto bay with it's three private beaches of PINK sand, pools and nearby caves. check out this nice slide show of bermuda.

boy, does this one momma of twins need (and deserve) a vacation!

the girls will be 10 months and right after our trip, they start swimming lessons. so hopefully, they will love being in the waters of Bermuda then take to swimming the waters of the pool.

we signed them up for four 'feeler' lessons. if they dont like it, we stop. but the lessons did came recommended by other parents who started their babies at 6 months. the theory is, babies learn naturally.

but i digress, the second may wedding is for helen & eric on memorial weekend. another super cute couple.

here's to love, pituresque beaches and family fun!

Lovin' the weather

We took advantage of the spring weather again today and took the girls to a nearby park for some kite flying. That Phunxtony Phil is one smart groundhog, spring feels right around the corner! So go fly a kite!

Doesnt Laurel look like an eccentric aunt ready to do some gardening :-)

Alicia's 5th Bday Party

We just got back fm my gf's daughter, Alicia, 5th birthday party. There was a moon bounce, swing set, pinata and cake!

I snapped a couple of pics of the girls in the moon bounce. Laurel sprawled out and hung on; while Vienna squealed in delight. Good times for a warm, sunny afternoon in March.

My first hair pin

The girls and their poppa, showing off their new hair pins.

BTW, happy belated Valentines Day!

Eric and I werent able to celebrate on the 14th, since I was in New Orleans for a conference. But last wkend, we were able to get away for spa massages (thanks to Aunt Han for babysitting and Aunt Thuy for the gift certificates).

How did we top off the evening? A seafood buffet, of course. My man truly knows (and loves) me.

Happy V-Day baby, you're an incredible husband and dad!
